Movie buff channel Film24 has been given the green light to broadcast 24 hours a day on the
BSkyB platform after it acquired an EPG slot earlier this year.
The Pinewood Studios-based channel acquired satellite drama channel Bonanza TV from now defunct participation TV group Optimistic Entertainment and is now available on channel 158.
However, under Sky rules Film24 had to wait 90 days before it could change the content of the channel and the name on the EPG. Film24 had been on air for around six hours a day on the channel around the old Bonanza content but is now available 24 hours.
Although Film24 will occasionally show films, chief executive officer Nicky Davis said it was a channel "about film" and will provide information, show reviews and interviews with top talent for film enthusiasts.
It will cover everything from blockbuster cinema and DVD releases to more obscure films, new talent and regional cinema. It will also lift the lid on the film industry and go behind the scenes to explain just how the end results are achieved.
